EVANGELINE – With just three years of tennis experience, 11-year-old Brittany Johnson of Evangeline has made quite a reputation for herself. Johnson has been actively competing in regional and national tennis tournaments for the past two years, and is expected to be ranked in the Top 10 by the end of August.
Johnson is known to be a natural athlete, as she has excelled in basketball, softball and tennis during the past three years. In 2007, she decided to hang up her softball cleats and then took hold of a tennis racket. »


Flanagan pleased with effort shown at Elton



ELTON – First-year Elton Head Coach Carl Flanagan has been busy running his young football team through fall drills and has been pleased with the overall effort shown by the players.
“We have a group of young players who want to play football,” said Flanagan. “The players are picking up our system well, and I’m pleased with the effort they have shown me to this point.” »


Iota showing bright spots during fall practice



IOTA – The Iota Bulldogs kicked off fall football practice last week with over 70 players taking part in the drills. The Bulldogs practiced all last week without pads, and this Monday they strapped on shoulder pads for light contact, and they will begin full-contact drills today.
“Overall, I’m pleased with the progress we have made so far,” said Iota Head Coach Marcus LeJeune. “We are definitely seeing some bright spots, and the kids have come out with good attitudes.” »
