Petition pushes for murder charge

Talen family says agreement is an injustice

Relatives of a murder victim have created an online petition in hopes that a judge will sentence a co-defendant to life imprisonment instead of up to 36 years.

Lake Arthur resident Charles Talen, Sr. was murdered in February 2015 during the armed robbery of his home. Roderick Cawthorne, Jr., who investigators and prosecutors believe killed Talen, was found guilty of second-degree murder in 2017. The Third Circuit Court of Appeal this month upheld that conviction. Cawthorne is serving his sentence at Angola.
