FLU HITS SCHOOLS

Influenza is taking its toll on school attendance in Jeff Davis Parish.

On a check of four of the 10 parish white schools, 17 percent of the students were absent from the classrooms today because of the flu surge.

At Jennings Central, Southside and high schools and the Hathaway high school there were 338 of the 1,932 students missing this morning.

In one classroom alone at Southside 18 of 37, or almost 50 percent were home.

Local Ford Co. does $250,000 business in 1925

The Jeff Davis Motor Company, Incorporated, Ford dealers of Jennings, reports one of its biggest years of its history in 1925. The total business grossed over a quarter million dollars, according to a statement taken out by P.C. Moseley, Secretary-Treasurer and general manager of the company, Monday.
