Fenton receives clean audit, applies for grants

FENTON — Recently the village here received its annual financial report. The report was issued on Wednesday, Jan. 13, and concerns the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2020.

The auditors reported no current issues or findings with the village’s finances.

“Everything was great,” said Mayor Eddie B. Alfred.

Louisiana deputy AG suspended after harassment probe

BATON ROUGE (AP) —Attorney General Jeff Landry’s office has suspended a top deputy after an investigation found that he engaged in inappropriate conversations including sexual slang and unprofessional comments, The Advocate reported Tuesday.

Pat Magee was suspended for 38 days — but must still report to work, with 38 days’ salary coming out of his pay, the newspaper was told.

Magee, who leads the Attorney General’s criminal division, will lose more than $20,500 of his $140,000 salary, according to a letter released to the newspaper detailing the punishment.

FAA: Small plane crashes in Louisiana while spraying crops

(AP) - A small plane that was spraying crops struck a power line and crashed Tuesday afternoon in northeastern Louisiana, officials said.

One person was aboard the single-engine Air Tractor AT8T when it crashed near Tallulah, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman said in an emailed statement.

Officials did not identify the pilot or release his or her condition.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.

Tallulah is about 55 miles (90 kilometers) east of Monroe.

BATON ROUGE (AP) — Alabama coach Nate Oats was concerned his team might lose its sense of urgency when it took the court as a member of the AP Top 25 for the first time in three seasons.

John Petty quickly calmed his coach down.

Petty made four 3-pointers before four minutes had elapsed, finishing with 24 points on eight 3s, and the 18thranked Crimson Tide set a Southeastern Conference record by making 23 shots from beyond the arc in a 105-75 rout of LSU on Tuesday night.

Hornets rain 3’s in 63-45 win over Midland

HATHAWAY - Noah Guidry knocked down five shots from beyond the arc and poured in a game-high 23 points Friday to help lead Class B’s No. 2-ranked Hathaway Hornets to a 63-45 District 7-B victory over the Midland Rebels.

The Hornets, who improved to 16-4 overall and 1-1 in league play, hit nine long balls on the night, including seven in the first half as they bolted out to a 41-17 lead at the break.

The onslaught began early with the Hornets going on a 16-2 run over the first six minutes of the opening frame.

For Christmas, I was the recipient of a pineapple planter. It is a decorative ceramic piece—all white--which looks like the round part of a pineapple with an open top for whatever plant you choose to add, and a drainage hole in the bottom.

It is lovely.
