Jeff Davis Parish teachers, principals, students and support staff were honored recently for their hard work and dedication over the 2022-2023 school year. Jeff Davis Parish School Board (JDSB) Superintendent John Hall and Curriculum Supervisor Amy Treme presented the honorees with the awards based on their achievements. Treme said the school board members were eager to recognize its amazing educators and students. “To all of our school employees, we honor you today,” she said during the ceremony. “All of you are critical to the success of this system and our society. To our students, we honor and recognize you. Thank you for being our inspiration.”District 5 member and ceremony guest speaker, Paula Lejeune, congratulated the awardees on behalf of her fellow board members. “I don’t know what gifts and talents you have that contributed to this honor but I am well aware of what you didn’t have,” she said. “You didn’t have the time but you spent more anyway. You didn’t have energy but you refused to give up. You didn’t have the answers but you became resourceful. Regardless of how you were chosen, you all share one more characteristic, which is that you didn’t have what it took to sit back and be average. So thank you for going above and beyond and stepping up and stepping out. Our communities, our schools, our children and the future is better because of you.”Treme said currently, schools are being held accountable to the highest level of standards so strong leadership is critical to a school’s success.
