BATON ROUGE — The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) recently recognized one of its K-9 officers for more than half a decade of dedicated service to the people of Louisiana as he heads into retirement.

With the Jeff Davis Parish Fair right around the corner, the young ladies who will be competing for the title of Jeff Davis Parish Fair Queen were recently announced. Thirteen contestants representing the seven high schools in the parish will be competing on Thursday, Oct. 5. The annual contest features high school juniors or seniors who will take the stage at 6 p.m. in the Glen Daigle Arena at the Jeff Davis Parish Fairgrounds in Jennings.
