LOS ANGELES (AP) — Although Mookie Betts has already won a World Series ring and finished second in NL MVP voting while wearing Dodger Blue, he had never been serenaded with long, loud, loving chants of “Mooooookie!” echoing through Chavez Ravine.
BATON ROUGE – The softball game scheduled for tonight (Tuesday) in Lake Charles between LSU and McNeese State has been postponed due to weather concerns.
LONGVILLE – The Jennings Bulldogs traveled to face off against the No.2 South Beauregard Golden Knights in the second game of their district series. The Dogs dropped a tough 9-1 decision on the road, and fell in Friday’s contest by a final of 5-1 at home. The losses dropped the Dogs to 9-14 overall, 2-6 in district 4-3A play.
The Welsh Lady Greyhounds and the Jennings Lady Bulldogs squared off in a non-district game between the two parish rivals. Jennings took a 6-0 lead and then went on to win 14-7.
SINGER - The Welsh Greyhounds popped off another win Saturday when they travelled to do battle with the Singer Hornets on the road in a non-district contest. The Hounds pulled out a10-4 win over the Class B Hornets to up their record to 8-13 heading down the stretch. The Welsh offense pounded out 14 hits in the win, and used a complete game performance by Caleb Miller on the mound to dominate the Hornets.
BATON ROUGE – The 15th-ranked LSU softball team continues its April road swing when it travels to Lake Charles Tuesday night for a non-conference game against McNeese State.
