Saints, Joubert run past Greyhounds 46-19

WELSH - Senior halfback Evan Joubert scored on the first play from scrimmage on his way to a career night that led the St. Louis Saints to a 46-19 win over the Welsh Greyhounds. Joubert raced 71 yards on the first play to start his big game, and finished with 229 yards on 27 carries and six touchdowns.

The No. 1 Jennings Bulldogs finished off their regular season slate a perfect 6-0 with a 42-14 thumping Of South Reauregard Friday night on Homecoming at lorry Simmons Stadium. The Dogs surged out to a 35-0 lead midway through the third quarter before the guests finally were able to find paydirt.

Jennings’ regular season finale with Westlake next week was cancelled due to the Rams facing Covid-19 Issues. and according to Head Cuach Rusty Phelps, the Dogs will not look to schedule another opponent before heeding into the playoffs.

Recently the LAHS Varsity Cheerleaders held a private camp with Southwestern Cheerleaders Association (SCA) similar to what they would have attended over the summer. They learned cheers, chants, dances and stunt techniques in that small amount of concentrated time. WELSH - Friday night is senior night for the St. Louis Saints. When Westlake had to cancel as St. Louis’ opponent, the seniors of the Saints were faced with the possibility of having no senior night. Then Port Barre called in sick as the opponent for Welsh Friday night. That set up the second chance for the Greyhounds and the Saints to play this year. Their first playing date of October 9th was wiped out by Hurricane Delta.

Lady Hornets sweep pair at Fairview Tourney

FAIRVIEW – The defending Class B state runnerup Hathaway Lady Hornets (HHS) swept a pair of games at the Fairview High School Tournament over the weekend by defeating Glenmora and Plainview. The Lady Hornets are now 3-0 on the season, and were scheduled to play last night against Pitkin.

Lady Hornets: 58, Glenmora: 53

In what was a tale of two halves in this battle of Class B powers, HHS jumped out to a big halftime advantage and held off a ferocious Glenmora rally to earn the five-point win.
