Deputy Sheriff Chas Daughenbaugh left Thursday for San Antonio, Texas, taking H.H. Barrere, an Army deserter from Boiling Field, Washington, D.C., to be delivered to Army officials at Fort Sam Houston. Barrere was taken from a room in a Jennings boarding house Sunday night after a three-hour search by officers, following notice from the sheriff at Crowley that a Chevrolet sedan belonging to Miss Lognaud of Crowley had been stolen and the thief was headed west.
