Gerard Conner

Gerard Conner, 61, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at his home in Bastrop. He had battled health problems for over a decade.
A 1976 graduate of St. Maria Goretti Catholic School in Lake Arthur, Gerard had a big heart for those less fortunate than himself. He loved hunting, fishing and making others laugh. Gerard was also an avid Saints and LSU football fan. He will be missed by family and friends.
Gerard is survived by his daughter, Amber Ariola of Monroe; his stepson and his wife, David and Sarah Lewis of Bastrop; and his grandchildren, Clarence (Kea) Ariola of Bastrop and Tateum Conner of Macon, Ga. He is also survived by eight siblings, Ray Conner, Jr. and his wife Beverly of Welsh, George Kenneth Conner and his wife Charlotte of Houston, Texas, Steven (Black) Conner, his wife Shyrel, and Brenda Trahan of Lake Arthur, Imelda Guidry and her husband Ronald of Elton, Thomas Lee (Tommy) Conner of Roanoke, Clarice Bonin and her husband Leonard (Lenny) of Jennings, and Carole Theunissen and her husband Stephen of Abbeville; his brother-in-law, Howard Whitman of Lake Arthur; his Godmother, Betty Myers of Stowell, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Devenia Conner, Sr.; his son, Johnny Gerard Conner; his stepson, Ross Cormier; his sister, Barbara Whitman; his nephew, Brian Theunissen; and two great nieces.
The family thanks his many doctors and caregivers over the years. Gerard’s funeral service will be scheduled for a later date.
