John Robert Rubin
Funeral services for Brother John Robert Rubin, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, 219 E. G. C. Chaney St.in Jennings, with Rev. C. James Fontenot, pastor, and Rev. Carl Fontenot, Sr., officiating.
Visitation will be held in the church from 9 a.m. until time of services.
Burial will be in Benevolent Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded at the Cemetery by a US Army Squadron from Fort Polk. Military Honors will be accorded in the church by the Frank Thibodeaux American Legion Post No. 520, James O. Hall American Legion Post No. 19 and the Patriot Guard.
Brother Rubin was born in Roanoke and lived most of his life in Jennings. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later received an honorable discharge.
He was married to the late Celestine Brown Rubin on Jan. 25, 1947, and to their union three children were born. Brother Rubin was a faithful member of Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, where he served as sr. deacon, asst. Sunday school superintendent and director of maintenance. He was formerly employed by Stine Lumber Co., Church of The Brethren, Glenn and Ethel Harris Farms and Semien-Lewis Mortuary.
Brother Rubin leaves to cherish his memories one devoted daughter, Rose Mary (Lester) Janice of Lake Charles; one son, Bobby G. (Adrian) Rubin, Sr., of Lake Charles; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lily Nash and Jane Treadwell; two brothers, Felton Rubin and Horace Rubin; daughter-in-law, Cassandra Rubin; special niece, Dorothy Reed; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Brother Rubin was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Celestine Brown Rubin; one son, John Arthur Rubin; and his parents, Rodney and Lillie Mae Rideaux.
