Paul William “Moose” Vincent, 80, of Jennings died at 2:53 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, in a local care facility.

His memorial service will be held at noon Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at Jennings United Methodist Church, with Pastor Walter Parker, Jr., officiating.

Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.

Born Nov. 19, 1938, in Lafayette, Mr. Vincent was a lifelong resident of Jennings where he graduated from high school in 1957. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Vincent worked in the oil industry for over 40 years, working his way up to a senior tool pusher with a boat captain license and retiring from Tenneco Oil Company. He was a member of Jennings United Methodist Church and was always helping others in need. Mr. Vincent was a proud Republican and enjoyed woodworking and teaching his skills to others. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors with his lawn business, “Vincent International Lawn Services,” as he was very proud of his work maintaining the Jennings Library grounds.

The most important thing in his life was his family, his grandchildren and his friends. He was always supporting his grandsons in their activities and enjoyed his morning coffee club time with his friends.

Mr. Vincent is survived by his daughter, Barbara Elaine Slusser and husband, Edwin Grant Slusser, Jr.; grandson, Dallas Grant Slusser and fiancée Jolene M. Crawford; niece, Carol C. Flaquet and husband Rafael; good friend, Peggy Jo Brown; and a host friends and family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Lee “Bill” and Willie Mae “Billie” Pharr Guthrie; sister, Virginia Elaine McAvoy; and his grandson, Colton Grant Slusser.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Vincent’s memory can be made to the Jennings Carneige Library, 303 N. Cary Ave., Jennings, LA 70546.
