Robert Richard
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts our family announces the passing of the first man we ever loved, our dad, Robert Richard, on July 4, 2019, at the age of 79.
A celebration of his life began on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings from 3-8 p.m. The public was invited to visit with family and share memories.
On Monday, July 8, 2019, there were final goodbyes beginning at noon until the time he was laid in his final resting place at Doucet Cemetery in Hathaway.
Bob was raised in Church Point where he met his wife of 59 years, Barbara Guidry Richard. After graduation, he went into the Navy where he was an electrician. He recently was treated by his children to see his ship, the U.S.S. Turner Joy, which he took pride in having a part in its construction in Bremerton, Wash. He worked for the U.S. Post Office for 18 years in Jennings and was the owner of Upholstery Unlimited in Jennings until his retirement. After which, he moved to Toledo Bend to fish and enjoy life with friends, family and friends who became family.
He leaves behind his wife Barbara and four children, Jan (Carl) Miller, Robin (Steve) Guillotte, Kevin (Mary) Richard and Jeff (Brandie) Richard; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Kathy Fuling of Pearland, Texas, and Debbie Sutphin of Lake Charles. He will be greatly missed by them all.
As he left this earth he was met by his parents, Loraine Lavergne and Gervis Richard; one sister, Shirley Knight; and a brother, Ronnie Richard. Also waiting with open arms were his granddaughter, Carrie Guillotte, and greatgranddaughter, Addison Richard.
Honored to escort him to his final resting place are those he loved: Kevin Richard, Jeff Richard, Jeremy Legros, Corey Miller, Robby Guillotte, Micah Thibodeaux, Chip Guillotte, Matt Fisher, Aaron Hurst, Brandon Meyer, Lance Bertrand, Justin Sims, Jared Richard, Jackson Richard, Carl Miller, Steve Guillotte and Bill Sutphin.
