Zula was a wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother whose greatest pleasure came from her love for her family. She loved to garden, read, raise birds and genealogy. She was a member of the Acadiana Bird Club. Her kind, caring actions and words taught all who knew her the definitions of love and family.
Zula is survived by beloved husband, Earl McFarlain of Jennings; her sons, Jerry Lee Deshotel, Jr., of Jennings, Bret James Deshotel (Michelle) of Lafayette, John Allen Deshotel of Richmond, Texas, and Earl J. McFarlain, Jr., “Bee” of Jennings; her daughter, Karen Deshotel of Bastrop, Texas; her stepdaughters, Diana Trahan of Tee Mamou, Disee McFarlain of Jennings and Celina McFarlain of Evangeline; her sisters, Marliene Bellard of Lafayette, Ethel Young of Lafayette, Carline Fontenot of Evangeline and Barbara LeJeune of Welsh; her nine grandchildren; and her two great-grandchildren.
Zula now rejoices in Heaven with her parents, Theotis and Mary Mire; and her first husband, Jerry Deshotel, Sr.
