Ruth Gaynell Howard Baudoin
LAFAYETTE - Memorial services for Ruth Gaynell Howard Baudoin will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Melancon Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., in Carencro. Rev. Dan Edwards, pastor of St Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate the services and rosary, which will be recited at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Gaynell passed away Sept. 19, 2018, with hospice care in Lafayette.
Gaynell graduated valedictorian from Lake Arthur High School and attended SLI in 1951. She was a devout Catholic and volunteered at the Cursillo for 15 years. She retired from the City of Lafayette after 20 1/2 years working for the city council and mayor’s office. Gaynell then substituted for 11 years in Lafayette Parish schools. She made a difference in many students’ lives. Her witty, sassy and down-to-Earth personality was admired and will be missed by all.
Gaynell is survived by her husband, Carol Baudoin; three children, Pia Richard and husband Eddie, Patryce Baudoin and Richard Baudoin; grandchildren, Britt Richard and wife Genee, Clay Baudoin and wife Jenny, Danika Richard and wife Callie, Danielle Sonnier and husband Joshua, Ashley Baudoin, Madison Baudoin and Austin Hanks; and nine great-grandchildren.
Gaynell was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Nelson Howard; brother, Albert James; sisters, Tommie Leger and Dorothy Miller; and nephew, James Michael Miller.
