Andrew M. Sonnier, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Andrew M. Sonnier, Jr., 77, will be held Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10 a.m. in Miguez Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Buddy Howard officiating.

Visitation will begin today, Thursday, May 26, 2022, from 5-9 p.m. and will resume Friday from 8 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in Andrus Cove Cemetery.

Mr. Sonnier was born Oct. 31, 1944, in Jennings to Andrew and Eva Deshotel Sonnier.

He worked as a tool pusher in the oil and gas industry for many years. He enjoyed working with his livestock and his dogs, gardening, Saints football and watching Western films.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are five daughters, Tammy (Joe Myers) Andrews, Tracy (Joe) Manuel of Elton, Tanya (Scottie Allemand) Sonnier of Lake Arthur, Caroline Lopez of Jennings and Betty Sonnier of Temple, Texas; a son, Charles Thompson of Lafayette; godchild Darleen Abshire Quirk; 14 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Sara June Sonnier; his son, Sgt. Anthony “Tony” Sonnier; sister Judy Powell and a brother, Harry Deshotel.
