Yvonne Deshotel Martin

MERMENTAU - Funeral services for Mrs. Yvonne Deshotel Martin, 74, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, in St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau, with Rev. Randall Morrow officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.

Funeral home visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. today, Wednesday, and will continue from 8 a.m. Thursday until time of services.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, in the funeral home chapel.

Mrs. Martin died at 11:47 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, in Gueydan Memorial Guest House.

Mrs. Martin was a lifelong resident of Jennings and a high school graduate. She was a devout Catholic who loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed dancing and listening to Cajun music, sewing, quilting, playing crosswords, and driving fast.

Survivors include her husband, MJ Martin of Jennings; two daughters, Joetta (Rayln) Trahan of Hathaway and Kristine (Roger) Kratzer of Mermentau; two sons, Michael Martin of Lake Arthur and Marty (Monika) Martin II of Jennings; four sisters, Bonnie LeGros of Mermentau, Sherry Whitehouse of Jennings, Wanda Linhart of Crowley and Lynda Deshotel of Pearl River; five brothers, David Hulin or Orlando, Fla., Don Deshotel and Jeff Deshotel, both of Slidell, Colin Deshotel of Mississippi and Kenny Deshotel of Pearl River; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Reggie Deshotel and Gertrude Leblanc Hulin; stepfather, Roy Hulin; one sister, Lorraine LeGros; two brothers, Marc and Kevin Deshotel; and one grandson, Daniel Stewart.
