Helen Mary Fachan Mier

LAKE ARTHUR - Funeral Services for Helen Mary Fachan Mier, 93, of Gueydan will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Lake Arthur today, Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 10 a.m., with Father Corey Campeaux officiating.

Visitation was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 2, from 3:30-9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume today, Wednesday, from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral service. Helen will be laid to rest in Shell Beach Cemetery.

On Oct. 1, 1925, Helen Mier was welcomed into this life by her parents, Albert Fachan and Apollie Faulk, in Abbeville. She was called to her Heavenly Father on July 1, 2019.

Helen was a homemaker and dedicated her life to taking care of her children and family. She loved to cook and visit friends and family, as well as still on her porch in the sunshine. Helen was tremendously loved and will be missed by those left to cherish in her sweet memory.

Helen is survived by her four grandchildren, Marcus (Shantell) Rizzuto of Abbeville, Dawn (William) Smith of Gueydan, Seth (Alanie) Mier of Carencro and Johnathon (Dani) Mier of New York; her five great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Andrew Rizzuto.

Helen now rejoices in Heaven with her parents, Albert and Apollie Fachan; her beloved husband, LeRoy Mier; her daughter, Christine Rizzuto; and her son, LeRoy Mier, Jr.

Carrying Helen to her final resting place in Shell Beach Cemetery will be Braxton Breaux, Lane Breaux, Tyler Smith, Ty Griffin, Bobby Mie, and William Smith.
