Fenton to see new fire station

FENTON - The small Village of Fenton has faced an overcrowding situation when it comes to each of its departments. The city hall houses both the mayor’s and the town clerk’s offices and that building is also shared with the police department. Plans have been in the works for some time now to allow all of the departments to acquire much-needed space.

A boy who has thrived since undergoing open heart surgery as a baby is continuing his and his family’s quest to aid children’s heart research.

“Super Samuel” Guinn, 5, just started his kindergarten year at Hathaway High School and will soon start Little Dribblers.

“He’s doing so good,” his mother Jennifer said. “I just got his pacemaker shirt that he can wear while he plays basketball.”

The shirt provides impact protection to athletic individuals who live with pacemakers.

Business workshop for farm, ranch women set for Sept. 19-20

ALEXANDRIA — The LSU AgCenter Annie’s Project is sponsoring a two-day workshop to help farm and ranch women navigate the business side of their enterprises.

The next course will be offered on Sept. 19-20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day at the AgCenter Dean Lee Research and Extension Center near Alexandria.

Maria Bampasidou, the AgCenter state coordinator of Annie’s Project, said farm and ranch women are generating a cultural tide in American agriculture that is moving management, assets and opportunities to a new wave of farmers across the country.

LSU AgCenter Food Incubator to host seminar Sept. 20

BATON ROUGE — People interested in starting food businesses and joining the LSU AgCenter Food Incubator can get information at a seminar Sept. 20.

The event will be 10 a.m. to noon in 214 Efferson Hall on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. Registration costs $30 and can be completed by visiting www.lsuagcenter.com/foodincubator.

Topics to be covered include services provided by the incubator, laws that affect food businesses and basic food safety.

Dear Editor,

The unpopularity we see for Donald Trump has absolutely nothing to do with his policies as president which have been pro-American and exactly what he campaigned upon. He has kept his word to the best of his ability considering the steadfast resistance of the Democrats.

That unpopularity is caused primarily by the incessant vilification based largely on lies by the Democrats echoed by their left-wing comrades in the media. Example: Trump is NOT a racist or a “white supremacist” or a “white nationalist”, etc. regardless of the phony accusations to the contrary.

KC Council welcomes Manuel, Koll

Hathaway Knights of Columbus Council 4787 is the charter sponsor for Boy Scouts Troop 59 of Hathaway. Michael Manuel is the troop leader. Kaleb Manuel and Barron Koll from Troop 59 were treated to a wonderful meal and were then given tokens of appreciation by the KC Council.
