No. 3 Elton falls just short

ELTON – No. 6 Delhi got a bit of redemption Monday night in the Class 1A quarterfinals as they came on the road to Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) and earned a 45-41 win over No. 3 Elton in a rematch of last year’s state championship game. After being down by seven at halftime to the Lady Indians, Delhi rallied to hold down the prolific offense of Elton to claim the 4-point win to advance to a semi-final match-up with No.7 White Castle. STANLEY – For the first time since 2016, the Lacassine Lady Cardinals are heading back to the Top 28 girls’ state tournament, following a 79-68 win over No. 3 Stanley on the road. The No. 6 Lady Cardinals created more of a stir to the event’s name of “Marsh Madness”, as they will set up quite a storyline when they duke it out with fellow Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) rival Hathaway in the semifinals at Burton Coliseum this week. The two teams split a pair of regular season contests in district play, but this one will have just a little more spice to it with a chance for either to play for a Class B state championship.

Jennings netters crush DeRidder on the road

DERIDDER – The Jennings Bulldogs’ tennis team made quick of work of the DeRidder Dragons and Lady Dragons on Thursday by earning an 8-0 girls win and a 6-1 boys win on the road. Both Jennings teams will return to action on Tuesday when they welcome in St Thomas More.

The Jeff Davis Arts Council (JDAC) Youth Theater will soon present the second production of A Chip Off Broadway’s (CHIPS) season. Two performances of Jurassic Park and Wreck will take place at the Strand Theater on Main Street. Curtains will open at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 and again at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.
