BATON ROUGE (AP) — Gov. John Bel Edwards said Monday that he will oppose legislative proposals to add new medical and sports restrictions on transgender youth in Louisiana, calling the measures “unnecessary and discriminatory.”

No. 10 Lady Tigers knock off Welsh 15-0

LAKE ARTHUR – The No. 10-ranked Lake Arthur Lady Tigers took another step forward on Monday night by topping No. 23 Welsh 15-0 in the opening round of the Class 2A softball playoffs. The win upped the Lady Tigers’ overall mark to a dazzling 18-7, while Welsh ended their season at 10-14. Lake Arthur advances to play No. 7 Port Barre today at 4:30 on the road for the right to move on to the quarterfinals. The Red Devils defeated the Lady Tigers in their only district match-up of the season.

Tigers dominant in 10-0 win over Evans

LAKE ARTHUR – The Lake Arthur Tigers used an impressive pitching performance and some fireworks on offense to claim a 10-0, mercy-ruke win over Class C Evans on Monday. With their third straight win, the Tigers improve to 17-10 overall.

No. 12 Iota defeats Lady Dogs 10-2

IOTA - In a battle of Lady Dogs in the first round of the softball playoffs, it was No. 12 Iota taking a 10-2 win over visiting No. 21 Jennings. Iota’s bats came alive early and lead 10-1 after five innings, but a determined Jennings defense rose to the occasion and prevented Iota from getting a 10-run rule victory. The game was highlighted by tag outs by both teams at home and on third base.
