Students complete food industry course

Eight Lacassine High School Family and Consumer Science students recently completed an industry-based credential for Servsafe Manager. The ServSafe Food Protection Manager course is modeled after the FDA Code guidelines and also includes basic principles of reducing liability through food handling techniques, safety systems, training and supervising employees. The students celebrated their achievement with a special lunch at school. Students who earned the certification included Ericka Vick, Zoe Waguespack, Trent Granger, Sofia Melville, Samantha Granger, Dasheun Pappion, Alec Comeaux and Ty Semar.

Lacassine High senior Vanessa Duhe capped off her sparkling athletic career at the school by winning a state championship in shot put at the Class B Track meet in Baton Rouge. Duhe latered signed scholarship papers with LSU-Eunice to continue her basketball career with the Lady Bengals.

Kennedy, Rubio call on Biden to withhold sanctions from Iran

WASHINGTON – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) today joined Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and other Republican senators in calling on President Biden to cut off negotiations with and refrain from giving sanctions relief to Iran, in light of that nation’s support of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. The letter comes in the wake of Hamas’s launching hundreds of rockets at Israeli civilians and cities.
