Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Boudreaux Thibodeaux, 89, of Lake Arthur were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur, with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating.

Visitation for Mrs. Thibodeaux began at 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and closed at 9 p.m. A Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed at 8 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Burial followed in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Erisa Marie Benoit announces her passing from this life on Aug. 6, 2021, at the age of 85.

Funeral services were held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021.

A gathering of family and friends was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings beginning Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, from 3:30-9 p.m. Visitation resumed Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, from 8 a.m. until the time of her service at 11 a.m.

Burial followed in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Elton.

Funeral services for Ms. Donna Kaye Begnaud, 50, of Crowley will be held today, Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Caleb Semien officiating.

Visitation for Ms. Begnaud was held Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, from 3-10 p.m. and will resume today, Sunday, from 9 a.m. until the time of her service at 2 p.m.

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Donna was born Oct. 23, 1970, in Jennings to Wallace Dupont, Jr., and Catherine Duhon Bonin. After high school and college, Donna enjoyed being a homemaker.

Dear Donna: Travelers checks still exist, but they are no longer a preferred form of payment.

Before I go into what is the preferred method, let me give a quick synopsis of travelers checks for those who may be unfamiliar with the term.

The heat is turned up and the rain is unrelenting. What can you do this month in the garden? As we look forward to cooler fall weather there are things to do to prepare for the fall and still time to tackle summertime gardening tasks.

Prune your blooming roses back about one-third of their height in late August to early September to encourage new blooms for October and November. Remove all the dead canes and diseased wood.
