Funeral services for Evan Leon Hearn will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2022, in the Christ Church, 1013 East Whitley Road, Oakdale, Louisiana with Reverend Greg Willis officiating. Military rites will be recited by the United States Army Guard. Committal service will follow in the South Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

In 1907, a drinking fountain stood at the northeast corner of Main and Market streets, installed by the Women’s Christian Temperance Union to discourage the public from drinking alcohol. WCTU initiated the practice of erecting public water fountains across the country in 1874 as a visible means of quenching one’s thirst with water instead of alcohol.
