In the Sunday, Aug. 21 edition of Jennings Daily News in an article titled FSA Shares Crawfish Breakthroughs, it was stated in error that U.S. Department of Agriculture County Executive Director for Jeff Davis Parish Beau J. Fontenot said the state does not have good soil for soybean production, when in fact he was referring to Jeff Davis Parish, not Louisiana. Additionally, Farm Service Agency (FSA) typically pays out around $15 million each year to farmers in Jeff Davis Parish and not $18 million as was reported. Lastly, Fontenot clarified that the FSA state office is still waiting on further guidance from the national office on what constitutes a freeze.
