With the arrival of August, local high school football teams around the parish have begun preparations for the upcoming 2022 high school season. Coming into the season, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) went through some changes with redistricting, leaving all four teams in Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) seeing some sort of change in their respective leagues. In District 4-3A, Jennings saw the addition of the Kinder Yellow Jackets to the league slate. In District 6-2A, Welsh and Lake Arthur saw 2A power Lafayette Christian Academy leave for Class 4A, and the Port Barre Red Devils also leave. However, the addition of Grand Lake, Vinton and DeQuincy keeps the league super competitive. The Notre Dame Pios will remain with the Tigers and Hounds. The Elton Indians said goodbye to the Grand Lake Hornets, as they departed for Class 2A, but kept the remainder of the district intact.
