JPA offers scholarship opportunity

The non-profit organization Jennings Police Association (JPA) is offering a $1,000 scholarship opportunity for Jennings’s graduating seniors who plan to further their education in a law enforcement or criminal justice focused program.

DOTD announces interstate lane closures

Officials with Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced the right lane of I-10 westbound from milepost 47 to Exit 44, near US 165, will be closed. The closure will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15, and last until 5 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16.

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds used a quick-strike offense and a smothering defense to defeat the Basile Bearcats by a 42-20 score in the bi-district round of Division-4 non-select state playoffs. With the win, the Greyhounds advance to the regional round and will host White Castle next Friday night. The win gives the Hounds an 8-3 overall record, while Basile finishes with a 5-6 overall mark.
