COMMUNITY CALENDAR

Items for Community Calendar must be submitted during regular weekday business hours at least two weeks prior to the day of the event. Events run in the order of their posted dates and ONLY AS SPACE ALLOWS. Events more than two weeks away may not run until closer to the event. Community Calendar is offered as a public service bulletin for Jeff Davis Parish community and nonprofit events. Send entries to editor@jenningsdailynews.net. To publicize your event in a specific format on a specific day or date, call 337-824-3011 to speak to an advertising representative.

Knights of Columbus Council 2012 presents awards

During the April meeting of Knights of Columbus (KC) Council 2012 from our Lady Help of Christians (OLHC) Parish in Jennings, Grand Knight Frank Angelle recognized the family of Bill and Betty Ann Caraway as the Council’s Family of the Month for March.

Local student-teacher selected for grant

The Alpha Kappa Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society of Women Teachers presented the Maud Anderson Grant to Sydnee Brown. Maud Anderson was one of the founding members of Alpha Kappa Chapter in Jeff Davis Parish and its first president. Brown is currently student teaching first grade at Jennings Elementary School under the guidance of Alison Oustalet. She will graduate from McNeese State University this spring with a degree in elementary education. Lucinda Stark, President, presented the grant.
