Scare tactic, reality or both?

It seems we have reached the point where “scare tactic” is similar to “fake news.” Both terms are meant to dismiss as lies what is in fact truth, or a probability.

Many people decide what they will accept as the truth regardless of the available facts. “Fake news” once referred to National Enquirer stories about an alien marrying a man from Ohio and starting an alien-human hybrid family. Fake news now refers to any information in the media that people dislike, even if that information is accurate. Dismissing truth, however, does not change the truth.

The perils of complacency
