Board discusses Gator Chateau, ongoing projects

Jeff Davis Tourist Commission board members met this week to discuss progress on the Gator Chateau, as well as several ongoing projects around the parish.

Marketing Director Dione Sabelhaus said crews were working to pour and stain the concrete at the Chateau, as well as installing electrical lines all this week.

“They will be finishing up the pond and smoothing it out this week,” she said. “They are really doing a great job and they are always happy to collaborate with us to meet our needs.”

Parents of LSU fraternity pledge sue after son’s death

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The parents of a Louisiana State University freshman who died of alcohol intoxication last year after an alleged fraternity hazing filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against the university board, the fraternity and several of the fraternity’s members.

Stephen and Rae Ann Gruver’s lawsuit on behalf of their son, Maxwell Gruver, of Roswell, Georgia, was filed in U.S. District Court in Baton Rouge. Defendants include Phi Delta Theta fraternity and four students already facing criminal charges in the 18-yearold Gruver’s death last September.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Friday that he suspects he’ll “very quickly” revoke the security clearance for a Justice Department official whose wife worked for the firm involved in producing a dossier on Trump’s ties to Russia.
