Courtney Jenay West Melerine

It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Courtney Jenay West Melerine announces her passing from this life on Oct. 1, 2018, at the age of 40.

Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Mickey Istre officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home today, Friday, Oct. 5, from 3:30-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 11 a.m. until her funeral service at 2 p.m.

Courtney will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.

Courtney was born in Jennings to Diana Bertrand West and Frank T. “Tiger” West, Jr. on Sept. 27, 1978.

She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Courtney loved doing activities with her son, Marcus - he was her life. She loved her two dogs, Bella and Buddy. She liked cooking and chatting with her friends and family on Facebook. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her mother.

Courtney is survived by her mother, Diana B. West of Jennings; her son, Marcus Sterling Toney of Jennings; and her sister, Julianna West of Slidell.

Courtney was preceded in death by her father, Frank “Tiger” West, Jr.; husband, Kevin John Melerine; maternal grandparents, Elwood Bertrand and Pearly Mae Thimmesch; paternal grandparents, Frank T. West, Sr. and Joann Summers West; and stepgrandfather, Pat Thimmesch.
