Everett Raymond Shaw
Everett Raymond Shaw left his earthly home on Aug. 12, 2018, at the age of 77. A memorial service in honor of Ray’s life will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at 2 p.m., with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating. A gathering of Ray’s family and friends will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until the time of his service at 2 p.m. Ray will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery following his service. Ray was born in Pine Island to the late Everett C. Shaw and Mary Eula Kratzer Shaw on Dec. 21, 1940. He was a true outdoorsman in every sense of the word. His passion for hunting and fishing was eclipsed only by his love for his wife of 48 years, Mary Jane, his four children and numerous grandchildren. Ray retired from the oilfield after a lifetime of service, working both in the Gulf and internationally. Ray’s bear hugs will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Whether known as Ray “Dad”, “Big Poppa”, “Popsie” or “Paw Paw”, he always had a grin and a laugh waiting for those he loved. Ray is survived by his two sons, Rolland Troy Shaw (Lisa) of Lafayette and Raymond Bryan Shaw (Kristie) of Lake Charles; two daughters, Paula Bertrand (Blaine) of Lake Charles and Krystal Baird (Darrell) of Longville; 10 grandchildren, Krystyn, Katelyn, Kourtney, Brooke, Bradley, Westley, Megan, Ashley, Abigail and Carissa; one great-grandson, Aldan; two great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Lucy; one sister-in-law, Shirley L. Shaw of Moss Bluff; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Eula Shaw; his beloved wife, Mary Jane Shaw; his brother, Richard L. Shaw, Sr.; his sister, Linda Knight; and his brother-in-law, John N. Knight. To extend online condolences, please visit our website at www.matthewsandsonfuneralhome.net.
