Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Raye Miller Dennis, 64, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2018, in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
Funeral home visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. Thursday and will continue Friday from 8 a.m. until time of the service.
A rosary, led by Deacon Wayne Chapman, will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Dennis died at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018, in Jennings American Legion Hospital.
Mrs. Dennis was a lifelong resident of Jennings and received a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education. She was a retired school teacher. She held memberships in Jeff Davis Association of Retired Teachers, National Education Association, Louisiana Association of Educators, Alpha Delta Kappa, and Louisiana Science Teachers Association. She loved to cook, go out and eat with friends, take care of people and spend time with her family and friends. She had such a big heart. She was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society and Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Dennis of Jennings; one daughter, Holly (Mark) Daniel of Welsh; one son, Jared Dennis of Roanoke; two sisters, Janita (Freddie) DeCourt of New Iberia and Jana (Joel) Ashworth of Carlyss; one grandson, Hayden Thomas Dennis; two nieces, Natalie DeCourt Guillory and Claire Ashworth; and numerous family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lillian Cormier Miller.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Bergeaux, Mark Daniel, Joel Ashworth, Freddie DeCourt, Jared Dennis and Mike Mire.
