Lou Lillian Monceaux Dugas

LAKE ARTHUR - It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Lou Lillian Monceaux Dugas announces her passing from this life on Sept. 13, 2018, at the age of 85.

Funeral Services for Lou Lillian Monceaux Dugas, 85, were held on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Chapel in Lake Arthur.

A gathering of family and friends was held at the funeral home on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 12:30-9 p.m. The family requested that visitation resume on Monday, Sept. 17, from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral services.

Lou was laid to rest in Andrus Cove Cemetery.

Lou was born in Lake Arthur to Lezea Monceaux and Julia Thibodeaux Monceaux on Jan. 15, 1933. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and woodworking in her spare time. Lou also loved spending quality time with her cherished family. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lou is survived by her daughter, Carol D. (Minus) Abshire of Lake Arthur; four grandchildren, Erik Abshire, Aaron Abshire, April A. LeBlanc and Crystal Gail Williams; and six great-grandchildren.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Lezea and Julia T. Monceaux; husband, Milton Dugas; son, Terry Dugas; and brothers, Sidney Monceaux, C.W. Monceaux and Magnus Monceaux.
