Mary worked as a teachers’ aide for JDP School Board for 10 years. She had her own cake decorating business for over 20 years. She painted, taught art classes and was also a seamstress for many years. She loved nothing more than having her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren over for Sunday dinner; the family ate Sunday dinner there for over 40 years. Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception Church where she was a reader and Eucharistic minister for over 40 years. She sang in the choir and sang solos, and she taught catechism for many years. Mary was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Ladies Altar Society. Her kind, caring actions and words taught all who knew her the definitions of love and family. Her faith was always strong, no matter what obstacle life put in front of her. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish in her memory are her daughter, Elaine (Jimmy) Segura of Jennings; her sons, David Wayne Deshotel (Kim) of Jennings and Michael (Suzette) Deshotel of Hathaway; her grandchildren, Jeff Segura, Missy Segura, Johnny Segura, Stormy Segura, Dusty (Kristin) Segura, Mandy Segura, Candie Deshotel, Sean Deshotel, Melanie Telford, Mary (Brandon) VanNess, Donald Deshotel, John Paul (Brittany) Deshotel, Brandy Bergeron, Tammy Manuel, Michael (Amy) Prejean and Michelle (Kyle) Mestayer; many great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ruby Grochoske of Houston.
