Minerva Mae Washington Stansberry
Mrs. Minerva Mae (Washington) Stansberry was a daughter of the late Edward and Adeline Tizeno Washington. She was born on July 5, 1944 in Crowley and departed this life on Aug. 28, 2018.
Her funeral service will be held at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Jennings on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at 10 a.m.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, Sept. 9, from 8-10 a.m.
Burial will take place in Peterson Cemetery in Jennings.
Minerva (Mae Mae) was a longtime member of Mount Triumph Baptist Church and was baptized, at an early age, by the late Dr. Jeff Peterson.
Having graduated in 1963 from Jeff Davis High School, she worked at Emery’s in Welsh and for the Jeff Davis School Board until she retired. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and spoiling kids.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Jackie Stansberry (Angie) of Jennings; two sisters, Lena Johnson (Clifton) and Harriet M. Perry, both of Bakersfield, Calif.; grandchildren Jazzlynn Lejuene, Brianna Stansberry and Blaize Richard, all of Jennings, and Tristian Broussard of Lake Charles; one great-grandson, Jordin Perkins; three sisters-in-law, Ariea P. Washington and Martha Stansberry, both of Jennings, and Mary Washington of Houston, Texas; three special nieces, Brenda G. Washington of Lake Charles and Carolyn R. Barker and Skylar Paige Washington, both of Jennings; one special nephew, Jack (Lil Man) Stansberry, Jr.; her godchildren, Linda (Gail) Berry, Kevin Thomas and Elliot Withers, all of Jennings; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, special friends, including Johnnie B. Briggs Green, Marva Ward, Minerva McCree, Michelle Citizen and Barbara Wright, as well as all other dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Adeline T. Washington; her husband, Jackie E. Stansberry, Sr.; one son, James E. Stansberry; three brothers James, Clifton and Arthur Washington; and one sister, Nona Lee Julian.
