Early voting starts Saturday
Sample ballots available at ROV, online
Early voting kicks off this Saturday for the Nov. 16 Gubernatorial runoff election.
Early voting will be held at the Jeff Davis Registrar of Voters Office (ROV) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily Saturday, Nov. 2, through Saturday, Nov. 9, with the exception of Sunday, Nov. 3.
“Early voting is a convenient way for all voters to cast their ballot and avoid the lines on Election Day,” Registrar of Voters Joann Blair said.
The ROV office is located at 302 North Cutting Avenue in Jennings.
Election Day voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. Voters will be required to vote at their assigned polling location.
Sample ballots are now available from the Louisiana Secretary of State or the ROV Office. Voters can also download the Geaux Vote smartphone app to view the ballot or learn their polling location.
Ballot items for Jeff Davis include a runoff face for state governor, secretary of state and District 37 State Representative.
The governor’s race will be between Democrat and incumbent John Bel Edwards and Republican contender Eddie Rispone.
Incumbent Republican Kyle Ardoin and Democrat challenger Gwen CollinsGreenup will vie for Secretary of State.
Republicans Shalon Latour and Troy D. Romero are both vying for the District 37 State Representative seat.
Voters in School District No. 1 in Lake Arthur will vote on a 10-year 7.85 mills continuation. Voters in School District No. 3 in Hathaway will decide on a 10-year, 3.53 mills continuation for schools. Lastly, voters in School District 22 will vote on a $4 million bond proposition for 20 years.
Those who do not have the option to cast their votes during early voting or on Election Day may qualify to vote by mail. Voters must have a reason to vote by mail, such as being temporarily absent, offshore, attending higher education, a member of clergy, involuntary confinement or be hospitalized.
A request to vote by mail may be completed at the ROV office or online at www.geauxvote.com. When submitting online, voters will be required to provide a valid Louisiana driver’s license or Louisiana special ID card and the audit code.
Senior citizens and disabled citizens have the option to be placed on a voting mail program. They can chose to receive their ballot by mail for one election or enroll to automatically receive their ballot for every election.
