Alexander John Broussard
Funeral services for Mr. Alexander John Broussard, Sr., 79, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating.
Funeral home visitation was held from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday; and from 8 a.m. today, Thursday, until time of services.
A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be in Shell Beach Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Mr. Broussard passed away at 8:10 p.m., Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, in Gueydan Memorial Guest House.
Mr. Broussard was a lifelong resident of Gueydan. He was a retired motorman in the oil industry. He loved gardening and his farm animals. He also loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a simple man who loved to cook for his kids.
Survivors include his wife, Shirlene Dugas Broussard; one daughter, Malena (Chad) Lemaire of Gueydan; two sons, Alex (Paula) Broussard, Jr., of Cleveland, Texas, and Ronald (Jessica) Broussard of Gueydan; four sisters, Betty (Domingue) Woods of Morse, Elaine (Lawrence) Gaspard of Rayne, Mary Lou Hoffpauir of Lake Charles and Shirley (John) Murrell of Crowley; five brothers, Clifton (Theresa) Broussard, Overton Broussard, Ashton Broussard and Wesley Broussard, all of Crowley, and Johnny Broussard of Rayne; seven grandchildren, Derek Lemaire, Kade Broussard, Trace Lemaire, Amy Broussard, Alexis Broussard, Clay Broussard and Ali Lemaire; and three great-grandchildren, Logan, Molly and Colt Lemaire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Upton and Marie Quebedeaux Broussard; and two sisters, Irene Henry and Bertha Hanks.
Pallbearers will be Alex Broussard Jr., Kade Broussard, Ronald Broussard, Clay Broussard, Derek Lemaire and Trace Lemaire.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chad, Logan and Colt Lemaire.
