It’s with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Alice Clara Jones announces her passing from this life on Jan. 10, 2020, at the age of 77.  

Funeral services will be held at Union Baptist Church in Jennings Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at 11 a.m., with Reverend Gerald Perkins officiating.  

Visitation will be held at the church Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, from 9 a.m. until the time of her funeral service.

Burial will follow in Park View Cemetery.  

Alice was born in Jennings to Edmond Jones and Mary Deville Jones on Sept. 15, 1942.  She was a nurse’s aide who dedicated her life to the care of others. She loved going to church, playing bingo, reading and watching games shows and TV in general. Alice was a kind and loving woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Shontele Williams of Lake Charles; brother, Ellis Jones of Texas; sisters, Mary Jackson of New York, Shirley Harris of Chicago, Maxine Guillory of Baton Rouge, Vickie Pete of Jennings and Jacqueline Dorsey of Houston, Texas; her Godson, Trennian Stidam; her two grandchildren, Tequilla Jones and Shanequa Jones; five great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Brandon, Breanjai, Ki’Andre and Charles, Jr.; one great great-grandchild, England; her special best friend, like a daughter, Betty Campbell of Silverwood; and her special friend, like a sister, Phyllis Webb.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Charles Williams; and brothers and sisters, Edmond Jones, Charles Jones, Jane Jones and Catherine Williams.

Those chosen to honor Alice as her pallbearers will be Deacon Kenneth Charles, Bro. Keynan Charles, Bro. Alonto Gant, Bro. William Henry, Deacon Houston Jackson and Deacon Warren Woods.   

Honorary pallbearers will be her daughter, Shontele Williams, Bro. Wayne Campbell, Sr., Rev. Johnnie Davis, Sergeant Robert Rubin, Bro. Donald n. Thibodeaux, Jr., Bro. Eric Thibodeaux and Bro. Trennian Stidam.

The Repast will be held at Union Baptist Life Church.
