Burial will follow in Mermentau Cemetery. Mrs. Landry was born Dec. 20, 1938, on 13th St. in Mermentau to Exall and Abbie LeBlanc.
She was a lifelong native of Mermentau and a faithful parishioner and devout Christian at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Her dedication to her family and church was her great love.
Audrey attended Midland High School. She married her husband (Carol) of 50 years on St. Patrick’s Day, Sunday March 17, 1957. They had three sons together.
Audrey graduated as certified nurse’s aide in 1976 and was a caregiver for Alton and Sallye LeBleu for 23 years. She was known by the elderly by her nickname, “Te Chein.”
In addition to never meeting a stranger and always giving a helping hand, Audrey was known for her generous spirit and compassion for others. No matter what obstacles life put in front of her, she reached out with assistance to the needy, poor, sick and homeless, plus those who needed a smile and a hug for the day. Throughout her life, she was involved in many organizations, but her greatest joy came along when she reached the status of being called “Granny,” which she adored. Audrey was loved by many in her community and will be greatly missed.
Audrey is survived by her two children, Rickey Landry and his wife, Cynthia, and Anthony Landry and his wife, Cheryl; her daughter-in-law, Peggy Landry, all of Mermentau; her nine grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Joshua, Kristi, Christy, Kassie, Lacey, Heather and A.J.; her great-grandchildren, Tia, Gavin, Jordan, McKenzie, Landon, Judson, Abbie, Ashby and Dani; her step granddaughter, Candy; her six step great-grandchildren, Kolbi, Abbie, Hannah, Ian, Katelyn and Jordan; her brother, Leathon LeBlanc and his wife, Dianne of Silsbee, Texas and her sister, Ruth Peveto and her late husband, Louis of Bridge City, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
