Betty Breaux-Hemphill

MERMENTAU — A memorial service for Betty Lane Breaux-Hemphill, 78, of Oakland, Calif., will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau. A repass will also be held at the church hall.

Betty’s ashes will be placed at the Mermentau Cemetery.

Betty died on March 14, 2023. A mass was held in Oakland, which can be viewed on YouTube.

Betty was born to Mabel and Harrison Breaux Jr. on March 17, 1944 in Jennings.

A graduate of Crowley High School, she attended Southern University and graduated from University of California-Berkley in 1991. She was employed by American President Lines (ACL) and KIDD Fireplace and Spa.

Betty leaves to mourn two sons, Justin M. Duhon of Westlake and Brandon Hemphill of Oakland, Calif.; one daughter, Cecily Hemphill of Houston, Texas; one sister, Michelle Breaux of Jennings; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
