Betty Moore Mitchell
The family of Betty Moore Mitchell are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on June 3, 2022, at the age of 89.
A Mass of Christian burial to honor Betty’s life was held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2022, with Father Keith Pellerin officiating.
A gathering of family and friends was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 3-8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. by Evelyn Broussard. The family requested that visitation resume Monday, June 6, 2022, from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 10:30 a.m.
Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
Betty was born Aug. 7, 1932, to Andrew Moore and Artemise Ravey Moore. Betty was a secretary at Jennings Guest House for over 39 years. She loved gardening, animals, going boating, dancing and crocheting.
Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Betty was a loving woman and will be greatly missed.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are her son, Farrell Mitchell (Michelle) of Carencro; her daughters, Gayla Gary “Tutt” (Willie) of Jennings, Sharon Mitchell Hebert of Jennings, Monica “Moonie” Miller of Jennings and Angie Fontenot (Kevin) of Jennings; and her 16 grandchildren, Ryan Mitchell, Korie Champeaux, Kelly Seaux, Drew Lopez, Luke Lopez, Jordy Lopez, Scotty Bujol, John Solari, Chris Solari, Landon Solari, Tommy Levy, IV, Jacob Levy, Conner Fontenot, Kane Fontenot, Clay Fontenot and Heidi Duplantis, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Artemise Moore; her husband, Huey N. Mitchell; her son, Norman G. Mitchell; her sisters, Anna Lou Regan, Russie Dupont, Almeter Constantine and her brothers, Oris and Dallas Moore.
Those chosen to honor her as her pallbearers were Ryan Mitchell, Scotty Bujol, Luke Lopez Jordy Lopez, Jacob Levy, Conner Fontenot and Kane Fontenot.
Honorary pallbearers were Drew Lopez, Tommy Levy, IV, John Solari, Chris Solari, Landon Solari, Clay Fontenot and Mike “Bear” Williams.
