Beverly Ann Buller Clayton
Beverly Ann Buller Clayton was born in Elton on Dec. 3, 1926, to Mildred Hart and Azenor Buller, and passed away on Oct. 8, 2021, in Angleton, Texas.
Graveside services will be private.
She moved with her family to Jennings in 1930 and lived here until 1944. While here, she studied classical piano for nine years. However, after receiving a scholarship to Louisiana State University, she forfeited it when she eloped with William “Bill” Clayton on April 15, 1944.
Shortly thereafter, Bill entered the military. Beverly followed Bill while he was stationed in several places in the states, and then waited for him to return when he was sent overseas to India.
After Bill returned from India, they embarked on a life of rice farming, having moved to Rosharon, Texas. While in Rosharon, their daughter, Cathy, was born. A few years later, their son, Johnny, came along. They moved to Angleton, Texas, in 1952.
Over the years in Angleton, she was involved in genealogy research, sewing, oil painting, church work, but mostly, her music and sewing. She was an awesome pianist and seamstress.
She was Charter President of Angleton Progressive Forum, as it was started in 1955. She was made an honorary lifetime member of the Progressive Forum in 1980.
Over the years, she and Bill lived in many different cities in Texas, but eventually retired to Joaquin, Texas, on Toledo Bend. There they made many new friends and lived a wonderful life.
As fate would have it, they returned to West Columbia, Texas, when Bill was diagnosed with terminal cancer. They would live out his final months at their son’s home until Bill passed away in 1999. Beverly went back to Joaquin for two years and then moved back to Angleton in 2001. She resided there until her passing.
Beverly is survived by her daughter, Cathy Branco (Chuck) of Conroe, Texas, and her son, John Clayton (Lynnda) of Angleton, Texas. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer Gonzalez (Jake) of Spring, Texas, Lori Buckner (Andy) of League City, Texas, Mike Clayton (Ismael Garza) of Houston, Texas, and Steve Clayton (Monica) of West Columbia, Texas. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, William Clayton; a sister, Janice Herbst; and a brother, Sidney Buller.
