Clarence “Brownie” Goodreau

JENNINGS — Clarence “Brownie” Goodreau, 82, of Jennings passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 5, 2023. Born on May 10, 1941, Brownie was the second son of Clarence and Belle Goodreau. From this time forward Brownie has lived and worked in Jennings except the years he attended Northeast Louisiana State College (ULM).
After graduating Pharmacy School in May of 1963, he began working at Lynn’s Drug Store for five years before moving to Stewart’s Drug Store on Plaquemine Street. Brownie and Junius Autin, owner of Stewart’s, had a great working relation for 45 years. He later purchased Stewart’s in 2006 and continued to run the store until retiring in 2013. He very much loved his career and employees.
He attended and supported the Methodist Church of Jennings. Brownie served on many committees of the church.
He served as Pack Master for Pack 65. He served on the Jeff Davis Parish School Board for eight years. Brownie also was active in the Jennings High School Quarterback Club. He has held many offices and served on different committees of the Jennings Lions Club. At the time of his death, he was still very active in the club. He has received the Lion of the Year Award and the Melvin Jones Award. One of his favorite activities of the Lions Club was the Cub Sight Program.
After retiring, he enjoyed working in his woodshop making desks and toys for his grandchildren. During that time, he built wooden houses for birds and donated them to auctions.
Brownie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Emma Jean Gandy, their two sons Bryan (Heather) and Brennon (Jolie); eight grandchildren Adam, Cameron, Landon, Brayden, Logan, Tanner, Grayson and Emmie; one greatgrand child Genavieve; three brothers Ronnie, Darrell (Judy) and Kenny and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 9 at 2 p.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Walter Parker officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Cremation will follow the service under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Jennings Methodist Church.
