Codia Jamal Walker

The family and friends of Codia Jamal Walker are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Aug. 27, 2021, at the age of 34.

Funeral services for Codia Walker will be held at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Welsh on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at 11 a.m., with Reverend Stevens officiating. Visitation, at the request of the family, will begin at New Jerusalem Baptist Church on Sept. 4, 2021, from 9 a.m. until the time of his service.

Codia was born in Jennings to Terry Lee Wilson and Irma Jean Lewis Walker on April 20, 1987. He was known for his great sense of humor and always loved to make others laugh.

Codia had an enthusiasm for music and he enjoyed cooking for his friends and family. He was a great person and loyal friend.

Most of all, Codia loved and cherished his kids and family. He will be tremendously missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Codia is survived by his mother, Irma Jean Walker; girlfriend, Skylar Stewart and her daughter, Kyliee Brown; daughters, Gracelynn, Maddie and Ma’lonii; sons, Codia Walker, Jr., Jamorian, Cayden and Zylon; brothers, Johnny Walker, Denard Wilson, Ronald Cretchen, Terry Wilson, Jr., Larry Washington, Carl Lewis and Larry Thomisee; sister, Alicia Wilson; and aunts, Wanda Wilson and Mona Thibodeaux.

Codia was preceded in death by his father, Terry Lee Wilson Walker, “Pops”, Ronald Broussard; sister, April Peck; grandparents; aunt, Deborah Ann Corbin; and numerous other relatives.

Carrying Codia to his final resting place in Oaklawn Cemetery will be Tyron Withers, Jory Williams, James Pete, Trendell Eaglin, James Brown, Marlon Lyons and Madalynn.
