The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon.

Inurnment will be held at a later date. Reverend Howard Blessing, will officiate the services. Terry was a resident of Niceville, Fla., and a native of Lafayette.

Terry took great pride in his military service, having been a member of both the Army and the Army Reserve. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, Terry established a successful business, Acadiana Tire Sales and Service, and ventured into other thriving enterprises.

In his later years, Terry transitioned into wealth management, culminating his 30-plus-year career and retiring at UBS. His clients were not just clients but his dearest friends, a reflection of his compassionate character and the significant influence he wielded over people's lives. Terry greatly appreciated the support and partnership of Matt Doucet.

Terry delighted in cooking for and sharing stories with his friends and family. He was an avid supporter of the University of Louisiana Lafayette, consistently participating in football tailgating for more than four decades. He greatly revered the beach near his Florida residence and enjoyed playing golf in the Gulf Coast sunshine.

Terry is predeceased by his mother, Hazel Comeaux Fontenot and his father, Dennis “Tip” Fontenot. He is also predeceased by his mother-in-law, Barbara Roy and his father-in-law, Robert Roy.

Terry is survived by his sister, Sue Smith and her husband, Bernie Smith, along with his niece, nephew and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Alafair.

Terry is profoundly missed by his children, Dennis Fontenot, Allyson Theunissen-Chaudoir, Christian Fontenot and Christian’s wife, Julie Fontenot.

Terry is deeply cherished by his grandchildren, Carson DeLarue, Carson’s wife, Kelli DeLarue, Charlie Fontenot, Chloe Fontenot and Harrison Huxley Chaudoir, as well as his great-grandchildren, Henry, Theodore and the soonto- be-born Robert DeLarue.

Terry is forever loved by his devoted wife of 44 years, Elizabeth “Doogie” Roy Fontenot.

The Fontenot family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude for the outstanding care given by the 7th-floor ICU at Lafayette General and DCI.

Terry was 80 when he entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at his Lafayette residence surrounded by family.
