Dories Mathis

Mr. Dories Mathis, 79, of Welsh passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at his residence.

Mr. Mathis will be cremated according to his wishes.

Affectionately known as “Doodle” to his family and “Dude” to his friends, Mr. Mathis worked as an operator in the refineries. He moved here from Conroe, Texas, in I974. Mr. Mathis also served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Nancy Blackwell Mathis; a daughter, Sara Mathis LeBlanc and husband Dion of Odessa, Texas; two sons, Richard Mathis and wife Stacey of Hughes Spring, Texas, and David Mathis and wife Christina of Lockhart, Ala.; a sister, Florence Scoggin and husband Eddie Ray of Frierson; two brothers, Joe Allen Mathis and wife Jane and Douglas Ray Mathis and wife Vickie, all of Hughes Springs, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Mathis and Mary McCain; and a grandchild, Jeremy Mathis.
