Dr. Barry Edwards
It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that our father, grandfather, brother and friend, Dr. Barry Edwards, passed away with the love of family and friends surrounding him on Nov. 3, 2022.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings and continue until the time of his service at 6 p.m., with a Rosary recited immediately before his service.
Dr. Barry was born in Albuquerque, N.M., on Jan. 20, 1957, to Carl Edwards and Lois Billingsley Edwards.
Dr. Barry was a beloved doctor who practiced medicine until his retirement in 2018.
He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter with a passion for woodworking, geology and taxidermy. He loved learning about new things and maintained a curious attitude toward life and was lovingly known by his children as their own walking Encyclopedia.
Dr. Barry was kind, generous and will be deeply missed by those closest to him and the community he cared for.
Those left behind to cherish all of those great memories are his children, Christopher Edwards (Marea) of Jennings, Kelly LeLeux (Matt) of Lafayette, Lauren Sabatier of Lafayette and Danielle Habetz (Lance) of Roberts Cove; his grandchildren, Camden, Emmy, Addy, Colden, Julianna, August, William, Benjamin and Mille and his sister, Carla Lemay (Rick) of Richland, Mo., as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Dr. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lois Edwards.
