Edward ‘Nick’ Nixon
Celebration of Life services for Mr. Edward “Nick” Nixon, 59, of Jennings will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at Jennings United Methodist Church in Jennings, with Pastor Walter L. Parker, Jr., officiating.
Visiting with family and friends will be held Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Semien-Lewis Mortuary in Jennings. Visitation will continue Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, from 8:30-11 a.m. at Jennings United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in SWLA Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary. Military Honors will be accorded by the U.S. Marine Corps at 1:30 p.m.
Edward passed away peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2021, in Lafayette.
He was born Aug. 19, 1961, to the late Joseph L. Sinegal, Sr., and Rose Marie Bias Sinegal. Edward enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and later received an honorable discharge.
He was previously employed by Leevac Shipyard, Stine Lumber and was a former firefighter with Jennings Fire Dept. Currently, he was custodian for Jennings United Methodist Church and regularly attended services at the church, pastored by Rev. Walter L. Parker, Jr.
Edward leaves to cherish his memories his wife of five years, Mable Marie Eaglin Nixon of Jennings; children, Damien D. Nixon of Beaumont, Texas, Kiera E. Nixon and Kia I. Nixon, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jessica Eaglin, Pearl Eaglin and Donisha Owens, all of Jennings; brothers, Nelson Nixon, Author Nixon (Brenda), Joseph L. Sinegal, Jr. (Stacey) and Roland Sinegal; sisters, Renetta Robinson (Brent), Shanella Boudreaux (Donald Sr.) and Rosalyn Sinegal; and a host of grandkids, godchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose L. Sinegal, Sr; one brother, Michael Nixon; and his maternal grandparents, Edna Bias Lehmam (William) and Nathaniel Nixon.
