Elsie H. Istre
The family and friends of Elsie H. Istre are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on May 26, 2022, at the age of 83.
Funeral aervices honoring Elsie’s life will be held at the Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 2 p.m., with Chris Gotreaux officiating.
A gathering of family and fiends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 10 a.m. until the time of her services at 2 p.m., with a rosary recited at 1 p.m.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Elsie was born on Dec. 3, 1938, to Lawrence Hollier and Alcidee Miller Hollier.
Elsie was a homemaker who dedicated her life to the care of her husband and family which she adored; although she never had children of her own “Nannie” cherished her nieces and nephews as though they were her own.
Elsie was married to the love of her life, Iry Istre, for over 50 years. Throughout her younger years, she enjoyed her life as a farmer’s wife and loved to be outdoors cutting the grass, which she proudly maintained until her illness. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Ladies Altar Society and Rosary group. Elsie also enjoyed baking, sewing and playing cards and dominoes with family and friends.
Elsie was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Elsie is survived by her nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Alcidee M. Hollier; her brother, Sidney Hollier; her great-nephew, Matthew Hollier; her first husband, Iry Istre, and her second husband, Arthur Eastman.
Those chosen to honor her as her pallbearers will be Wes Gotreaux, Dwight Hollier, Will Hollier, Chris Gotreaux, Doug Hollier and Mark Hollier.
